OVEN-BAKED FRENCH FRIES
My go-to recipe for a healthier “fried” potato.
Ingredients:
2 medium russet potatoes
2 tbsp olive oil
1 - 2 large pinches of table salt
Fresh or dried parsley, chopped (optional)
Flakey salt to taste
Parchment paper
Directions:
Wash your potatoes. Peel if desired, although leaving the skins on can add extra texture and flavor. and cut them vertically into ¼ inch french fry pieces. They don’t have to be perfect, but try to cut them as evenly as possible.
Soak in a bowl of water for 30 min. Do not skip this step! It will help get rid of the starch and make them more crisp.
Once done soaking, dry your fries thoroughly and heat your oven to 450 degrees.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper (butter the pan before putting the parchment paper on to keep it from sliding). Add your french fries and generously season with olive oil and salt. Spread evenly on your pan.
Bake for 30-40 minutes, tossing at the 20 minute mark. Keep an eye on them as the baking time will depend on your oven and how thin your fries are.
Once cooked to your preferred crispness, plate and top with flaky sea salt and parley (optional).
